He earned Class 5A All-State recognition and was named to The Dallas Morning News All-Area Team in 2001-2002.

After enrolling at Texas A&M University, the young athlete often worked on his shooting. Acie’s first few days in Texas, however, did not go as planned. In his first season, his club failed to win a single game.

However, Acie was excelling on a personal level and raising his performance. Acie also held the fourth spot in the Big 12 Conference rankings.

As a junior, Law scored 1000 career points while contributing 300 assists and 100 steals. However, just four players—including Acie—have done it in Texas history.

In the 2006–2007 season, just after the start of his senior year, Aggies were ranked sixth, which, to everyone’s surprise, was the highest spot the institution had ever held.

Acie Law made history by becoming the first Texas Aggie to be chosen unanimously for the All-Big 12 first team. He was also honored as the Big 12 Player by the Dallas Morning News.

Acie was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft following a stellar basketball career at Texas A&M University. He was the first senior in college to be picked.
