Childhood of Annie Mac
Annie Mac was born on July 18, 1978, in Dublin, Ireland, and is 43 years old. She is an Irish national with a white ancestry. She went to Wesley College in Dublin and Queen’s University Belfast to study English literature.
The DJ and radio personality from Ireland moved to Belfast to study English Literature at Queens University. During her time there, she visited Shine, a Belfast club where she was introduced to dance music and developed a lifelong passion for it.
Mac had developed an interest in radio by the time she finished her degree and obtained a Master’s degree in the discipline from Farnborough College of Technology. Mac then moved to Camden, London, to live with her brother. She worked with the student-run radio station SBN and had a DJ residency at Camden Underworld.
What is the Net Worth and Income of Annie Mac?
She began working as Steve Lamacq’s broadcast assistant at BBC Radio 1 when she was 21 years old, and three years later, she launched the Annie Mac show.
Mac’s career and reputation developed rapidly once she broke into the spotlight; by 2005, she had established Annie Mac Presents, her first branded club night at Fabric, which led to the launch of the Annie Mac Presents yearly compilation series in 2009.
After a decade of presenting dance music programs, including the 7:00 P.M. Friday night slot, she took over Zane Lowe’s Monday-Thursday role in 2014. This gave her the opportunity to perform a wider range of music.
Mac hosted a BBC Three series called Who Killed the Night in January 2017, which looked at the situation of British nightclubs following numerous closures.
Mac announced on April 20, 2021 that she will be leaving Radio 1 on July 30, 2021, citing a desire to spend more time with her family as the reason.
She delivered the tragic announcement live on air during Greg James’ Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Annie’s Future Sounds show will be taken over by Clara Amfo, a fellow Radio 1 DJ, in July, while Mac’s Radio 1 Dance Party show will be taken over by Danny Howard in August.
Her net worth is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $8 million.
Who is Annie’s husband?
Toddla T, Mac’s husband, has been her husband since 2018. He is also a professional DJ.
In April 2018, they married in a registration office ceremony, with Mac later explaining:
“We got married two years ago today, only it wasn’t the main wedding, so we didn’t really think about it.” That morning, I gathered flowers from the garden, and we took a taxi there, where we were greeted by the sweetest woman and waited in a hall for a while. Everything was beautiful and wood-paneled. We were separated just before the ceremony. So I had to wait alone in a chamber, and it all felt very genuine. There was a portrait of the queen on the wall, and she was staring at me, and it all felt a little intimate and emotional.”
The’main wedding’ took place in May 2018, with Mac posting a photo of herself kissing Toddla T on Instagram.
Their first child arrived in May 2013, followed by their second in January 2017. Because both of her children are in school, she requires more time in the evening to visit them. But she is unable to do so due to her hectic job schedule. And it’s for this reason that she’s leaving Radio 1.
