Nathan Jonas Jordison, better known by his stage name Joey Jordison, is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and record producer. His work as the former drummer and co-songwriter for the American heavy metal band Slipknot is what is most well known about him. Additionally, he plays guitar for Murderdolls, an American Horror Punk band. Since the band’s founding in 1995, he has been a member of Slipknot; he departed the group in December 2013. Since the age of eight, he has been playing his drum sets live.

Early Life & Education

Joey Jordison was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 26, 1975. His mother’s name was Jackie Jordison, and his father’s name was Steve Jordison. Along with having two younger sisters, he spent the majority of his youth in a rural location outside of Waukee. In his hometown, he used to play basketball on the sidewalks and in front of his home.

He and his siblings moved in with his mother when his parents divorced when he was still quite young. After his mother’s second marriage, they quickly launched a funeral home, where Jordison occasionally helped out. He immediately founded the Modifidious band, playing drums in it. In a later statement, he described the group as “full speed-metal thrash.”

As soon as he received his high school diploma, he started working for the neighborhood music store Musicland. In 1994, Joey started working at the Urbandale Sinclair garage. He worked late shifts so that he could hang out with his friends and enjoy music.

He was said to have transverse myelitis in 2016, a neurological ailment that temporarily paralyzed his legs and was also unable to play the drums prior to his rehabilitation.
