Early and Junior Years

As Jeremy Roe’s skip (captain) at the 2007 and 2008 United States Men’s National Championships, Matt Hamilton began his curling career.

Later in 2008, he joined Chris Plys’ junior team, helping them win two consecutive junior national championships in 2008 and 2009.

The United States was then represented by Matt and team Plys at the World Junior Championships. He occasionally won his significant gold medal with this. Hamilton also won the 2008 Sportsmanship Award for the title during this time.

The 2009 World Junior Championships were held in Vancouver Olympic Center, and Matt then participated in them. He was only able to win a bronze medal because he was unable to defend his gold medal.

He then participated in the 2009 American Olympic Trials, and by the end of the year, he was back on Jeremy Roe’s squad in third place. Again, Matt collaborated with Paul Pustovar by 2011.

Beyond Team Shuster

Matt Hamilton and John Shuster were both passed over when the United States Curling Association unveiled their High-Performance Program (HPP) to choose the list of possible curlers after the 2014 Winter Olympics.

As a result, John Shuster, a three-time Olympian at the time, founded a new squad known as “The Rejects.” As a result, Matt joined the team in second place, after Tyler George and John Landsteiner.

This team performed admirably for a total of four seasons, and at their first National Championships, they triumphed over Brown, the former skip of Hamilton.

Later on, they were successful in getting a ticket to the World Championship, and when they were there in Basel, Switzerland, they defeated Yusuke Morozumi of Japan to win the bronze medal.
