Motion City Soundtrack Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

A rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Motion City Soundtrack was founded in 1997 and has been active ever since. Justin Pierre (lead vocals and guitar) and Joshua Cain (lead guitar and backing vocals) are the band’s founding members, and they are joined by keyboardist and moog synthesist Jesse Johnson, bassist and backing vocalist Matthew Taylor, and drummer, percussionist, and backing vocalist Claudio Rivera on the other instruments. Motion City Soundtrack has produced five studio albums and has sold over 600,000 copies worldwide over the course of their career, with more than half a million of those sales occurring in the United States alone. It was a 7″ single titled “Promenade/Carolina” that marked Motion City Soundtrack’s debut, which was out in 1999. After that, they published their first EP, Kids for America, and then a second, Back to the Beat, in the following year. In 2002, they released two versions of their first album, I Am the Movie. The band’s first five albums were all self-released with the assistance of a tiny independent record company. With the help of their continuous travelling, they developed a rapidly expanding fan base, which led to their signing with Epitaph Records. After spending their first five years figuring out the perfect lineup, the band’s big break came in 2003 with the re-release of I Am the Movie on Epitaph Records. Its first big song, “The Future Freaks Me Out,” was a live and television triumph, but it failed to register in radio airplay or on the charts in the United States. In addition to Schatzi, Limbeck, and Matchbook Romance, three Split EPs were released in 2003 and 2004. They have achieved their greatest commercial success with their second album Commit This to Memory, which has sold over 285,000 copies and reached number two on the Billboard Independent Albums list. Even if It Kills Me was the band’s third full-length studio album, which was released in 2007. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 list and at number one on the Independent Albums chart in its first week of availability. It was responsible for the songs “Broken Heart,” “This Is for Real,” and “It Had to Be You,” all of which got exposure on television. In January 2010, Motion City Soundtrack released their fourth studio album, My Dinosaur Life, which debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. It is their first album to be published on Columbia Records, one of the world’s largest record labels. On June 12, 2012, Motion City Soundtrack released their fifth studio album, Go. The album was published as a collaborative effort between Epitaph Records and the band’s own label, The Boombox Generation.
