Mr. Ronald Dennis CBE (born 1 June 1947) serves as the executive chairman of McLaren Automotive as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Group. He is also a major stakeholder in both businesses. Additionally, until 2009, he served as the team principal of McLaren Racing, the group’s Formula One team. In January 2014, he took over the role of Team Principal formerly held by Martin Whitmarsh, essentially regaining control of the Formula One team for himself and his family. Dennis has been the team principal of the McLaren Formula One team since 1981, and he was crucial in developing the squad into a consistent challenger for the world title. Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, and Lewis Hamilton were the winners of the Constructors’ and Drivers’ World Championships, respectively. Dennis sold half of his 30 percent stake in the McLaren Group to the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company in January 2007, leaving him with a 15 percent stake in the company. As part of a transaction that was completed in 2011, Dennis, together with co-owners Mansour Ojjeh’s TAG Group and the Bahraini Mumtalakat Holding Company, purchased back Daimler AG’s 40 percent stake in the company in 2009.
