He became the tallest player in college basketball by his sophomore year. He was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. He ranked second nationality in field goal percentage as of January.

He decided to test his name for the 2017 NBA Draft, on April 5 with the possibility of returning to Central Florida still available to him before the end of the draft lottery that year. He later withdrew his name from the consideration for the NBA Draft, to return to UCF for his junior year. He injured his shoulder.

He was named to the Preseason Second Team All-AAC. During his senior season, Fall helped lead the Knights to the NCAA Tournament and secured their first victory in program history with a win over VCU during his senior season.

Tacko Fall committed to play for the University of Central Florida and started playing for the UFC Knights. During his sophomore year, he was considered the tallest player in college basketball. He was also named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
