Tanya Chua bags 2 awards at the 2018 China Music Awards

Updated: 17 Apr 2018

This was also the singer’s first public appearance after completing her three-month patisserie course.

Tanya Chua made her first public appearance of 2018 with a bang – the singer attended the 2018 China Music Awards, which was held in Macau, and became one of the biggest winners of the night as she went home with not one, but two big prizes: the Channel V Asian Music Trend Award, along with the Most Popular Female Asian Artiste Award.

For the past three months, the singer has been in Paris for a patisserie course, but that hasn’t dulled the songbird’s talent – she wowed the audience with her performance of ‘Space’, ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ and ‘Aphasia’.

After the performance, she spoke to the media and expressed, “I just returned from France not long ago, and I was living a life surrounded by flour and baking for three months. Honestly, I’m still a little not used to returning to such a big stage. It’s familiar, yet unfamiliar at the same time, but I’m really enjoying this kind of feeling because I received so much support from everyone when I returned to the stage, and wasn’t forgotten. This also serves as a reminder to me that I’m still a singer, and I still love being on stage. I’m really happy to be back, and thankful to everyone for being able to receive these awards.”

Likening her music to a baguette, Tanya shared that she feels that her songs are simple, uncomplicated, but require time and effort to be able to be shaped into something that can touch many people’s hearts despite its simplicity.

The 43-year-old teased that fans can look forward to new music from her this year, and is aiming to release a full studio album within the year.
